Eagle Pass Agents Apprehend 261 Undocumented Migrants in 90 Minutes

In just 90 minutes, Eagle Pass Border Patrol agents apprehended two large groups of undocumented migrants, totaling 261 people. The first group, consisting of 138 people, was apprehended around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23. The second group, consisting of 123 people, was apprehended around 11:30 p.m. on the same day.
The migrants were from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. They were all transported to a Border Patrol processing center for further processing.
Border Patrol Apprehends 268 Undocumented Migrants in 5-Hour Span
The apprehensions come as the number of undocumented migrants crossing the border has increased in recent months. In July, the Border Patrol apprehended over 213,000 people, the highest monthly total since 2000.
The Eagle Pass sector is one of the busiest sectors along the U.S.-Mexico border. In July, agents in the sector apprehended over 30,000 people.
The apprehensions in Eagle Pass are a reminder of the challenges facing Border Patrol agents. The agents work long hours and often in dangerous conditions. They are responsible for patrolling the border and apprehending undocumented migrants.
