EAGLE PASS, Texas — Eagle Pass Independent School District has officially called a general election for the Board of Trustees, placing three school board positions before voters in November 2026.

The election will include EPISD Board of Trustees Position 3, Position 4, and Position 5. Each position carries a four year term.

Three EPISD Trustee Seats Will Be on the Ballot

According to the election order approved by the Eagle Pass ISD Board of Trustees, the district will hold an election for three separate trustee positions.

The seats listed in the order are Position 3, Position 4, and Position 5.

The school board trustees that currently hold these seats are Claudio Heredia, Hilda P. Martinez and Victor Perry. Currently neither of the three have announced their intentions to run for re-election.

The election is important for the Eagle Pass community because school board trustees make decisions that directly impact students, parents, teachers, employees, campuses, district spending, policy, and the overall direction of the school district.

Candidate Filing Period Announced

The election order states that individuals seeking to run for one of the three trustee positions must file for one position only.

Candidates may not file for more than one seat on the Board of Trustees.

The filing period opens July 18, 2026, and closes at 5:00 p.m. on August 17, 2026.

Candidates must submit their written application at the Office of the Superintendent in the EPISD administration building located at 587 Madison Street in Eagle Pass.

Community Attention Turns to EPISD Leadership

The upcoming election is expected to draw public interest as Eagle Pass residents continue paying close attention to school district leadership, spending, policy decisions, student outcomes, and accountability.

The EPISD Board of Trustees plays a major role in the operation of the school district. Trustees are responsible for governance, budget oversight, hiring and evaluation of the superintendent, policy direction, and representing the interests of the community.

For parents, taxpayers, educators, and district employees, the November 2026 election will provide an opportunity to follow the candidates, review their priorities, and evaluate the future direction of Eagle Pass ISD.

Election Order Approved in June

The order calling the election was approved and passed by the Eagle Pass ISD Board of Trustees on June 9, 2026.

The order also states that election materials will be provided in both English and Spanish.
