Eagle Pass Police Arrest Man in Alleged Human Smuggling Operation Under Operation Stone Garden
EAGLE PASS, Texas — A 32 year old man was arrested and charged with two felonies following a joint investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department and U.S. Border Patrol into an alleged human smuggling operation.
According to a September 10 media release from the Eagle Pass Police Department, the investigation occurred on September 9, 2026, during an Operation Stone Garden detail.
Suspected Vehicle Tracked From Rio Road
Authorities said officers tracked a suspected vehicle traveling from Rio Road to Del Rio Boulevard.
The driver, identified by police as Angel Alfredo Dominguez Rajal, 32, was detained.
Officers assigned to the Eagle Pass Police Department Street Crimes Initiative then took over the investigation.

Police Say Suspect Was Recruited Through Social Media
During the investigation, authorities allege Dominguez Rajal had been recruited through social media to pick up undocumented individuals and harbor them at a local hotel.
Police subsequently entered the hotel room connected to the investigation.
Two Undocumented Individuals Located Inside Hotel Room
According to Eagle Pass Police, officers located two undocumented individuals inside the hotel room.
Police identified them as Enrique Antonio Duran Canova and Victor Manuel Cantarrero Martinez.
Authorities reported that one of the individuals was found to have three active out of state warrants.
Both individuals were transferred into the custody of U.S. Border Patrol.

Dominguez Rajal Faces Two Felony Charges
Following the investigation, Dominguez Rajal was presented before a magistrate and formally charged with two third degree felonies.
He was charged with Operation of a Stash House and Smuggling of Persons.
Combined Bond Set at $100,000
Dominguez Rajal was transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center, where his combined bond was set at $100,000.
The case will be referred to the Maverick County District Attorney’s Office for review and possible prosecution.
The Eagle Pass Police Department and U.S. Border Patrol worked together during the Operation Stone Garden detail that led to the investigation and arrest.
All persons arrested or accused of a criminal offense are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
