Eagle Pass City Council Approves Temporary Toll Rate Adjustment for Non-Commercial Vehicles
City Council Approves Temporary Toll Rate Adjustment
The Eagle Pass City Council on Tuesday approved a temporary toll rate adjustment for non-commercial vehicles to cover unexpected operational costs due to a significant increase in traffic crossing to the United States and Mexico. The special vehicle charge will be $5.00.
The City and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have agreed to open all lanes at Eagle Pass International Bridge No. 1 for 24 hours on specific high-volume days to ensure efficient processing of vehicles entering both countries. The subsidy will also assist with expenses brought forth by the Paisano Traffic Re-route Operation to ensure minimal impact to local citizens commuting within city limits.

New Charge to Cover Unexpected Operational Costs
The City of Eagle Pass believes it is in the best interest of the city to temporarily modify the passenger vehicle toll schedule at the City Manager’s discretion to ensure funding is available to cover additional costs without affecting approved department balanced budgets.
Any excess revenue remaining after additional expenses are covered will be deposited into the Bridge System fund and utilized for Bridge System operational costs.
