Deadly Mass Shooting at Allen Premium Outlets
Multiple fatalities and at least nine injuries were reported in a mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets on Saturday. Police officials confirmed that there were fatalities but declined to release the number of people killed. Allen Fire Chief Jonathan Boyd said that at least nine shooting victims were taken to hospitals by city ambulances, but there could be others who were injured and taken to hospitals in different ways.
U.S. Rep. Keith Self stated on Twitter that the gunman was no longer a threat and that there were a number of casualties. Allen Chief of Police Brian Harvey later confirmed the fatalities at a news conference. The shooting began around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, with an officer responding to gunfire, finding the gunman and neutralizing him. They believe the gunman acted alone, and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
ATF agents are working to locate shell casings and trace the firearm or firearms involved. Medical City Healthcare said that they were providing trauma care to eight victims of the shooting who ranged in age from five years old to 61 years old. The mall has around 120 stores and was very busy on Saturday afternoon.
