Maverick County Jury Convicts Nolber Dominguez-Noy of Smuggling of Persons, Sentences Him to 10 Years

EAGLE PASS, TX — September 16, 2025 — A Maverick County jury has convicted Nolber Dominguez-Noy of Smuggling of Persons and sentenced him to 10 years in prison following a two-day trial. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Roxanne Meraji and Ramses Betancourt of the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

The charges originated from a July 12, 2024 incident, when a Maverick County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped a 2020 Kia Altima for illegal window tinting. During the stop, the deputy obtained consent to search the vehicle and discovered two individuals hidden inside the trunk.

After hearing the evidence, jurors unanimously found Dominguez-Noy guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and returned a 10-year prison sentence.

Prosecutors credited the conviction to strong collaboration between agencies. The Maverick County Sheriff’s Office, a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper, and 293rd District Attorney’s investigator Yesica Jasso all played key roles in building the case.

In a statement, the 293rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office emphasized its commitment to accountability and public safety. “Actions have consequences. Individuals who break the law will be held accountable. We remain committed to ensuring public safety and pursuing justice for the people of Maverick County.”
