Zavala County Deputies and DPS Trooper Save Man’s Life in Batesville, Texas
In the early hours of August 18, 2024, at approximately 2:22 a.m., deputies responded to a call regarding a possible domestic dispute on Guduea Street in Batesville, Texas. Upon arrival, Deputy #706, Deputy #779, and a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Trooper heard a male voice crying out for help. As they approached the location, they found a male subject sitting on a bench, unresponsive, and being held by another individual.
Recognizing the critical nature of the situation, Deputy #706 and Deputy #779 immediately initiated chest compressions, while narcan was administered in an attempt to revive the unresponsive man. Despite their best efforts, the man remained unresponsive for approximately 30 minutes until Alamo EMS arrived on the scene. After a thorough evaluation, EMS personnel detected a faint pulse and the man was quickly placed on a stretcher and transported to Uvalde Regional Hospital for further treatment.
Further investigation revealed that the man had been found hanging from a carport at the residence and was suspected to be under the influence of narcotics. The quick and decisive actions of Deputy #706, Deputy #779, and the DPS Trooper played a crucial role in saving the man’s life, exemplifying the bravery and dedication of these law enforcement officers.
The deputies’ efforts, in collaboration with the DPS Trooper and EMS personnel, highlight the importance of swift response and teamwork in emergency situations. The community extends its gratitude to these individuals for their life-saving actions during this critical incident.
