Del Rio Police Arrest Subject for Resisting Arrest and Public Intoxication
In the early hours of July 8, 2024, the Del Rio Police Department responded to a disturbance at the White Horse Lounge. Officers were alerted to a fight in progress and were informed that one of the individuals involved was a shirtless man with long hair. The incident culminated in the arrest of Stephen Anthony Maldonado, 27, for resisting arrest and public intoxication.
Responding to the Scene
Around 2:13 a.m., police arrived at the White Horse Lounge and quickly identified a man who matched the description given by dispatch. The lounge’s management had requested a Criminal Trespass Warning due to the man’s disruptive behavior, which had escalated into a fight.

Escalation and Arrest
Upon making contact, officers found the man to be aggressive and uncooperative. He ignored their commands and even went as far as placing his hands on an officer’s face. Recognizing the threat, the officers informed him that he was under arrest for public intoxication.

Struggle and Subduing the Suspect
The man, later identified as Stephen Anthony Maldonado, resisted being handcuffed, actively struggling against the officers. After several attempts to restrain him, the officers used a taser to subdue Maldonado, effectively bringing the situation under control.

Charges and Legal Action
Stephen Anthony Maldonado was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and public intoxication. He was also issued a Criminal Trespass Warning, barring him from returning to the White Horse Lounge. Following his arrest, Maldonado was taken to the Del Rio Police Station for processing and subsequently transferred to the GEO Correctional Facility.
