EAGLE PASS, TX — Ruben Garibay, the founder of the Puerto Verde Global Trade Bridge (PVGTB), hosted a press conference on May 1, 2024, to discuss the proposed commercial trade bridge and rail line in Northern Maverick County. The event served as a platform to engage the community and invite residents to a forthcoming town hall meeting on May 7th.

Community Engagement and Transparency

During the press conference, Garibay expressed his gratitude for the community’s active interest and engagement with the project. He emphasized the importance of open communication and welcomed feedback from both supporters and critics. “Your feedback is instrumental in shaping the direction of our project. We deeply appreciate the insights you provide, and we take them into serious consideration,” Garibay stated, acknowledging the critical role of community input through the Surface Transportation Board permitting process.

What is important to the community is going to be important to the project, otherwise nether one will succeed. The community will not succeed and the project will not succeed.

Garibay also addressed the concerns and skepticism surrounding the project, emphasizing his commitment to transparency and factual communication. He noted the challenges posed by misinformation and assured the community of his dedication to clear and honest dialogue.

But I didn’t want to wait for a community that wasn’t quite knowledgeable or ready to be able to do it, so I step in and filled in the gap.
