Fugitive Wanted for Sexual Battery Apprehended While Attempting to Flee to Mexico
Eagle Pass Police Department collaborates with Canton Police to catch 26-year-old Erick Daniel Gonzalez Garcia
In a coordinated effort between law enforcement agencies, the Eagle Pass Police Department (EPPD) successfully apprehended a fugitive, Erick Daniel Gonzalez Garcia, who was attempting to flee the country into Mexico via a bus.
The crucial information leading to the arrest was received from the Canton Police Department in the State of Mississippi. Gonzalez Garcia, aged 26, was wanted for the grave charges of sexual battery of a child under the age of 14 in Mississippi.
EPPD Patrol Officers acted swiftly upon receiving the tip-off and located the bus which Gonzalez Garcia was believed to be traveling in. Implementing a well-executed stop, they boarded the bus and began their search.
The fugitive was discovered in the back of the bus, attempting to conceal his identity by carrying a Mexican passport. However, EPPD officers positively identified him as Erick Daniel Gonzalez Garcia, leading to his immediate arrest.
Following the arrest, Gonzalez Garcia was transported to the Eagle Pass Police Department, where he will face the process of being magistrated. Subsequently, he will be remanded to the Tom Bowles Detention Center, pending extradition to the State of Mississippi to face the charges against him.
