Police Apprehend Suspects in Vehicle Bailout Incident near HEB Parking Lot

Uvalde, Texas – In a dramatic turn of events, the Uvalde Police Department (PD) successfully apprehended the driver and detained several individuals involved in a vehicle bailout incident near the HEB parking lot and East Garden St. This incident, initially a cause for concern among local residents, unfolded into a case of human smuggling.

In the final update provided by the authorities at 8 am, Uvalde PD confirmed the arrest of the female driver on charges related to human smuggling. Additionally, they turned over ten undocumented immigrants to the U.S. Border Patrol, Del Rio Sector, for further processing and investigation.

The incident escalated further with an update at 7:27 am, as nine more individuals were captured and detained in the vicinity of Brice Lane. Uvalde PD promptly informed the Border Patrol, who were en route to the location to take custody of the suspects. Meanwhile, reports emerged of several others running in the area near the courthouse, city hall, and Rushing Estes.

Local law enforcement agencies, along with the Uvalde PD, worked diligently to locate and detain the runners. By 7:20 am, several individuals were located and taken into custody near the courthouse, city hall, and Rushing Estes. As the situation unfolded, authorities urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons to the Uvalde PD’s 24/7 dispatch line at 830-278-9147.
