House Republican leaders Jim Jordan, Mark Green, and Michael McCaul have criticized the Biden administration for allowing the southern border to be taken over by violent cartels and for mishandling the situation. They have released a statement following the introduction of the Secure the Border Act of 2023 (H.R. 2), which aims to increase border security by investing in technology, supporting the Border Patrol, and ending the administration’s catch-and-release policies.

The Republican leaders have also called for a renegotiation of policies such as Remain in Mexico and the Asylum Cooperative Agreements. With the end of Title 42 looming, the House Judiciary Committee Chairman, the House Homeland Security Committee Chairman, and the House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman urge the House to pass the Secure the Border Act to address the ongoing crisis at the border.
