MAVERICK COUNTY — Maverick County officials recently met with residents in Precinct 2 during a town hall meeting focused on the upcoming Venesa Street Improvements Project, a long-planned infrastructure effort aimed at addressing critical needs in the area.

The meeting followed the county’s successful award of nearly $1.2 million in grant funding and served as an opportunity for residents to learn more about the scope of work, project timeline, and anticipated impacts to the neighborhood.

Focus on Water, Drainage, and Street Conditions

Maverick County Judge Ramsey English Cantu and County Commissioner Pct. 2 Roxi Rios outlined plans to upgrade aging waterlines, improve drainage infrastructure, and rehabilitate overall street conditions along Venesa Street. The officials explained that the project is intended to address long-standing issues that have affected residents for years, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and routine wear on existing infrastructure.

Residents were encouraged to ask questions and share concerns directly with county leadership and project staff. Several attendees raised questions related to construction timelines, temporary disruptions, and coordination during the work phase.

Those present at the meeting included Ramsey English Cantú, Roxi Rios, Project Engineer Edward De La Garza, Grant Administrator Isaak Ruiz, and Chief of Staff Pablo Garcia, along with additional county staff.

Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication with residents throughout the life of the project. County leaders stated that community input plays a key role in shaping how infrastructure projects are implemented at the local level.
