Traffic Stop in La Pryor Leads to Arrest and Methamphetamine Seizure

LA PRYOR, TX — A Zavala County Sheriff’s deputy arrested a woman on Friday, October 31, 2025, after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine at the intersection of U.S. Highway 57 and U.S. Highway 83 in La Pryor.

According to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy conducted the stop around 4:00 p.m. on a blue 2013 Ford Mustang for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Sandra Aliene Shepard, was informed of the infraction and asked to present her driver’s license and proof of insurance.

During the investigation, the deputy located a crystal-like substance inside the vehicle. Shepard admitted that the substance was crystal methamphetamine. The suspected narcotics were seized as evidence.

Shepard was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (4 grams < 200 grams). She was transported to the Zavala County Jail for booking.

The case remains under investigation by the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office.
