Frio County Judge Suspended Following Vote-Harvesting Indictment, Allegations Surface in Eagle Pass Election

Frio County Judge Rochelle Camacho has been suspended without pay following her indictment on multiple counts of vote harvesting. The State Commission on Judicial Conduct issued the suspension after Camacho turned herself in at the Frio County Jail. Camacho is among six individuals facing charges for their alleged involvement in a scheme targeting elderly voters.
The investigation, led by the Texas Attorney General’s Office, alleges that Camacho and her associates paid individuals to collect mail-in ballots, manipulating the election outcome in her favor. The allegations center on the 2022 Frio County Judge election, where Camacho defeated her opponent, Mary Moore.
The six individuals charged include:
- Ramiro Trevino, Pearsall City Council member, charged with one count of vote harvesting.
- Adriann Ramirez, Pearsall Independent School District board member, facing three counts of vote harvesting.
- Carlos Segura, former Frio County Elections Administrator, charged with tampering with evidence.
- Racheal Garza, Pearsall City Council member, facing one count of vote harvesting.
- Rosa Rodriguez, an alleged vote harvester, charged with two counts of vote harvesting.
According to affidavits, Moore began her investigation after receiving tips that Camacho had employed Cheryl Denise Castillo to collect ballots on her behalf. Although Castillo has not been charged, records indicate she completed several ballots without properly disclosing her assistance. Castillo passed away in October 2024.
Moore claimed to have witnessed Camacho and her associates leaving a nursing home with what appeared to be carrier envelopes for mail-in ballots, further raising concerns about the integrity of the election process.
