Glenna Purcell, a familiar and trusted figure in the Eagle Pass education system, is running for re-election to the EPISD School Board Place 7. Her commitment to our students and teachers makes her the ideal candidate to continue leading the district forward.

A Legacy of Teaching and Leadership

For 28 years, Purcell helped shape the lives of countless students as a math teacher, primarily working with 7th and 8th graders. She didn’t just teach numbers; she inspired confidence and encouraged a love for learning. As the district’s first teacher in the gifted and talented program, she taught math to advanced students in 4th, 5th, and 6th grade across ten elementary schools. This program allowed students to reach their potential, and Purcell played a key role in its success.

Later, she took on the role of Math and Science Coordinator for EPISD, where for five years she worked to improve how these essential subjects were taught across the district. Her leadership in this position helped elevate academic standards and showed her passion for making a difference for both teachers and students.

A Continued Commitment to Eagle Pass

Though she retired from teaching in 2004, Purcell didn’t step away from serving her community. She’s the Treasurer for her church, a member of a women’s Bible study group, and remains active in organizations like the Maverick County Retired School Personnel Association and the Maverick County Livestock Association. Whether in education, her church, or other community groups, Purcell has always been driven by her desire to contribute to the wellbeing of Eagle Pass.
