Traffic Stop in Zavala County Leads to Detainment of Six Individuals
On the morning of Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at approximately 8:16 AM, Zavala County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a White Chevrolet Malibu for a traffic violation on US HWY 83, north of FM 1025. What began as a routine stop quickly escalated into a significant law enforcement operation as multiple individuals attempted to flee the scene.
Upon the Deputy activating the emergency lights, the Chevrolet Malibu pulled over to the side of the highway. As the vehicle came to a complete stop, several occupants exited the vehicle and ran towards the surrounding brush in an attempt to evade capture. A second Deputy arrived on the scene to provide assistance, successfully detained all four subjects who tried to escape.

The female driver, Angel Nichole Alexander, and the male passenger, Chadragren Robinson, were also detained without incident. Further investigation revealed that the four individuals who had exited the vehicle were Mexican Nationals in the United States illegally.
The vehicle was subsequently towed by Garcia’s Wrecker Service, ensuring it was removed from the roadside. The undocumented individuals were handed over to the custody of the United States Border Patrol for further processing.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in border regions like Zavala County, where routine traffic stops can frequently uncover illegal activities, including human smuggling. The coordination and quick response by the Zavala County Sheriff Deputies ensured that all individuals involved were safely detained and processed according to the law.
