Investigators from the sheriff’s department and Texas Rangers who are investigating the murder case of Angel Garcia have managed to recover the firearm that Rodolfo Perez used to commit the crime early Monday morning. The firearm in question is a cut-down 9mm rifle.

The Chief Deputy, Roberto De Leon, stated that the judge who certified the death ordered the body to be sent to the medical examiner’s office for the appropriate autopsy. As of Tuesday morning, Perez had not yet been charged because the degree of homicide had not been determined, which would be the basis for authorities to set his bail.

He added that investigators are gathering all kinds of evidence and collecting statements to ensure that the case is well-constructed before it is turned over to the district attorney.
