EAGLE PASS, Texas — An investigation involving the Eagle Pass Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service led authorities to a residence near the corner of Spies Drive and Salonika Street earlier today.


According to a confidential source, authorities arrested an individual identified as Reuben Montemayor during the investigation.


The confidential source alleged that the arrest is connected to a case connected with property reportedly stolen from a Law Enforcement unit.


According to the source, the stolen items included a police officer’s service weapon, a bulletproof vest, and other equipment reportedly located inside the law enforcement unit at the time of the theft.

Law enforcement officials have not publicly released details regarding the investigation, the arrest, or any criminal charges that may have been filed. The confidential source informed The Maverick Times, that the case could carry a charge of third degree felony.


The Maverick Times is currently waiting for an official announcement from Eagle Pass Police Department and other law enforcement agencies involved in the case.


Residents in the area reported seeing a law enforcement presence at the residence as investigators conducted activities connected to the investigation.

The case is not connected to Maverick County elected officials Sara Montemayor (County Clerk) and Ruben Montemayor (County Tax Accessor Collector). All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
