EAGLE PASS, Texas – Daylight saving time ended at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, so clocks moved back one hour across Texas. Most phones and computers change on their own, but microwaves, stoves, car clocks and some wall clocks need to be set back by hand.

The time change means earlier sunrises and earlier sunsets for the next several months. Daylight saving time returns on the second Sunday in March.

Warm and muggy through Monday

Eagle Pass can expect a mostly cloudy Sunday with a high near 82 and a low around 69 tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Monday will be partly sunny and the warmest day of the week, with a high near 86.

Del Rio is forecast to be mostly cloudy Sunday with a high near 81, and partly sunny Monday with a high near 85, according to the NWS. Patchy fog is possible early in the mornings, the agency said, because of the warm, humid air and soils still wet from last week’s heavy rain.

Front brings storm chances Monday night

A cold front is expected to sweep across South Central Texas overnight Monday into Tuesday morning, bringing a line of showers and storms, according to the NWS office in Austin and San Antonio. A few strong to severe storms are possible along the line, with damaging winds as the main threat and some large hail possible, the forecast discussion said.

The chance of rain Monday night is 50% in Del Rio and 20% in Eagle Pass, according to the NWS.

Election Day forecast

Tuesday, Nov. 3, looks sunny and cooler behind the front. Eagle Pass is forecast to reach about 80 with north northwest winds of 5 to 15 mph and gusts to 20 mph, according to the NWS. Del Rio is forecast to reach about 78 with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tuesday night will be clear and much cooler, with lows around 56 in Eagle Pass and 54 in Del Rio. Drier air should bring cooler mornings and mild, pleasant afternoons with no rain through the middle and end of the week, according to the forecast discussion.
