Noise Complaint Leads to Vehicle Pursuit and Arrest in Zavala County

ZAVALA COUNTY, Texas — A routine noise complaint early Sunday morning quickly escalated into a vehicle pursuit and arrest after a driver attempted to flee from responding deputies.

According to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:20 a.m. on April 12, 2026, to South Madero Street in response to a reported disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a silver Ford sedan that immediately fled the area at a high rate of speed.

Deputies initiated a pursuit as the vehicle continued to evade law enforcement through nearby streets. The pursuit came to an end at the intersection of East Hidalgo and South Madero Street when the driver lost control of the vehicle following a dangerous passing maneuver.

Authorities identified the driver as Alex Rene Martinez III. He was taken into custody at the scene along with a juvenile passenger who was also inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.

A search conducted by deputies resulted in the discovery of suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia including weighing scales, and multiple weapons. Officials reported that the items recovered included a large bladed weapon as well as an air pellet rifle.

Martinez was transported to the Zavala County Jail where he was booked on charges related to the incident. The juvenile passenger was cited for Minor in Possession of Alcohol and was later released to a parent.

The vehicle involved in the pursuit was impounded.

Officials stated that the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to maintaining public safety and addressing reckless behavior that puts the community at risk.

The case remains under investigation.
