Early Voting Continues Through April 29 at Cruz Antonio Muñoz Gymnasium

EAGLE PASS, Texas — Early voting in the City of Eagle Pass election has seen 1,507 ballots cast over the first four days, according to the Maverick County Elections Department. Early voting will continue through Tuesday, April 29, at the Cruz Antonio Muñoz Gymnasium as residents prepare for the official Election Day on May 3.

City Secretary Erika Rodriguez confirmed that early voting on Saturday, April 26, will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Voting will resume on Monday, April 28, and Tuesday, April 29, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Election Day for the City of Eagle Pass is scheduled for Saturday, May 3, with polling hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Voting totals show steady participation among Eagle Pass residents. On Tuesday, April 22, 326 voters cast ballots. On Wednesday, April 23, 334 voters participated, followed by 346 ballots cast on Thursday, April 24. Friday, April 25, saw the highest turnout with 501 voters. These numbers bring the cumulative early voting total to 1,507.

Despite the momentum, the turnout rate in the City of Eagle Pass remains relatively low compared to the total number of registered voters. According to the Maverick County Elections Department, Eagle Pass has 18,667 registered voters within the city limits. The 1,507 early votes represent approximately 8 percent of the eligible voting population.

Based on historical voting trends, election officials estimate that around 19 percent of Eagle Pass voters may ultimately participate by the close of the election. Voter engagement in the city has traditionally lagged behind county-wide averages, a longstanding concern among local officials aiming to boost civic participation.

The City of Eagle Pass election features important races that will shape leadership decisions for the coming years. Officials are encouraging all registered voters to take advantage of early voting opportunities and avoid waiting until Election Day to cast their ballots. Early voting remains open at the Cruz Antonio Muñoz Gymnasium through April 29.
