Wagon Wheel BBQ and Three Other Eagle Pass Businesses Damaged in Vandalism
On January 2, 2025, Eagle Pass was shaken by the news that four businesses along Del Rio Boulevard had been vandalized, with one also burglarized. Among those affected was Wagon Wheel BBQ, a renowned local favorite celebrated statewide for its award-winning barbecue and recent international expansion to Piedras Negras, Mexico.
The Eagle Pass Police Department confirmed that Wagon Wheel BBQ sustained significant property damage during the incident. Surveillance footage captured the suspect, who also targeted Dollar General, The Cup, and Chance & Lee’s Pizza. In addition to vandalism, Chance & Lee’s Pizza suffered a burglary when the suspect forcibly entered the building and stole property.
The Impact on Wagon Wheel BBQ
Wagon Wheel BBQ has long been a symbol of Eagle Pass pride, drawing visitors from across Texas and beyond for its highly praised barbecue. Recognized among Texas’ top 50 barbecue spots and featured on KSAT 12’s Texas Eats, the restaurant is more than a business—it’s a cornerstone of the community’s identity.
“This isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a symbol of Eagle Pass pride. People come from all over to try our food. Seeing this kind of attack is personal for everyone who loves Wagon Wheel,” a staff member shared.
Police Investigation and Community Call to Action

One resident summed up the community’s feelings: “Wagon Wheel is more than a restaurant; it’s part of who we are as a town. We’ll rally behind them and the others to show that Eagle Pass won’t tolerate this.”
The businesses impacted by the vandalism and burglary are committed to recovering and continuing to serve the community. Despite the setback, they remain resilient and hopeful, drawing strength from the support of local residents.
Law enforcement officials have highlighted the importance of proactive measures to deter future incidents, including enhanced patrols, improved surveillance, and holding offenders accountable.
For Eagle Pass, supporting these businesses in the aftermath of the incident means more than just patronizing their services. It is about coming together as a community to reinforce shared values of pride, resilience, and determination.
