Siblings Arrested for Aggravated Assault in Del Rio Incident
On September 20th, 2024, at approximately 10:13 p.m., the Del Rio Police Department responded to a disturbance call on the 1800 block of Ave P. Officers were informed that a male subject had a knife, and emergency medical services were needed at the scene. Upon arrival, police encountered a female victim who reported that the male subject, identified as Victoriano Ortiz, was armed with a firearm inside the residence. Several children were also inside the home, but they were safely removed and released to a family member.
The female victim was treated by EMS at a safe staging area and later transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center for further treatment. Following a search of the residence, officers found Victoriano Ortiz hiding under a mattress. A female identified as Isabella Ortiz was also detained. It was later determined that both Victoriano and Isabella Ortiz participated in the assault of the female victim.
Medical evaluations revealed the victim had multiple injuries, including three puncture wounds to her right leg caused by a knife. Due to the living conditions inside the home, Child Protective Services was contacted. Both Victoriano Ortiz, 22, and Isabella Ortiz, 21, were arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Evidence was recovered at the scene, and the investigation continues.
