EAGLE PASS, TX — A 14-year-old boy has been remanded to a juvenile detention facility after a threatening social media post that reportedly referenced a terroristic threat mentioning Eagle Pass Junior High School, according to a media release from the Eagle Pass Police Department dated Oct. 27, 2026.
Concerned Parent Reported The Post
The Eagle Pass Police Department said it received a report from a concerned parent about a threatening social media post involving a student currently attending Eagle Pass Junior High School. Investigators immediately opened an investigation to identify the person responsible for the post and to assess the potential threat to students, faculty and school personnel.

Officers were able to identify the individual and obtain a residential address, according to the release. The individual, identified as a 14-year-old male juvenile, was detained and taken to the Eagle Pass Police Department for further investigation.
The Juvenile Probation Department was notified and responded to the police department. Through the coordinated efforts of EPPD investigators and Juvenile Probation officers, the juvenile was remanded to a juvenile detention facility, police said.
Police Say Threats Will Not Be Tolerated
“The Eagle Pass Police Department takes all threats involving our schools, students, and educational personnel extremely seriously,” the release states. The department said social media posts depicting firearms and referencing acts of violence against schools, whether intended as a joke or otherwise, can create significant fear, concern and disruption throughout the community.
“Threatening behavior of this nature will not be tolerated,” police said, adding that the department will continue to investigate all reported threats and take appropriate action under the law to protect students, educators and school personnel.
A Message To Parents
The department thanked the parent who quickly brought the post to the attention of law enforcement. Police said the case is an important reminder that community awareness, parental involvement and timely reporting of suspicious or threatening behavior play a vital role in preventing violence.
EPPD strongly encouraged parents and guardians to talk with their children about how serious it is to make threats, especially threats involving schools and firearms, whether in person, through social media or through the use of artificial intelligence.
“If you see something, say something,” the department said. All threats should be reported right away to law enforcement or school authorities.
