Former Eagle Pass Head Football Coach Tom Gonzalez Announces Run for EPISD School Board
Tom Gonzalez, who recently stepped down as the head football coach for the Eagle Pass High School Eagles, is now looking to serve the community in a different way. After 37 years in education, he has announced his candidacy for a seat on the Eagle Pass Independent School District (EPISD) school board.
“I’m excited to share that I’ve submitted my application to run for the EPISD school board,” Gonzalez said. “After spending nearly four decades in education and retiring at the end of the 2024 school year, I’m eager to continue contributing to our community.”
Gonzalez’s connection to the district goes beyond his professional career. His family is deeply involved in EPISD—his daughters and son-in-law are all teachers and coaches within the district. This strong family tie fuels his passion for supporting local education and ensuring that the district continues to excel.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been involved in both athletics and academics, and I’m committed to representing the best interests of our students, parents, teachers, coaches, administrators, and taxpayers in EPISD. I’ll always strive to go above and beyond for them,” Gonzalez emphasized.
As he begins this new chapter, Gonzalez is seeking the community’s support. His extensive experience in education, combined with his deep roots in the district, positions him as a dedicated candidate for the school board.
“I hope to earn your support and humbly ask for your vote. Let’s work together to make our district the best it can be!” Gonzalez concluded.
Gonzalez’s experience in both education and athletics equips him with a balanced approach that can help ensure EPISD continues to thrive and meet the needs of all its students and staff.
