UHAUL USED IN SMUGGLING ATTEMPT IN ZAVALA COUNTY
A Zavala County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to pull over a U-Haul on US HWY 57 earlier today. However, the vehicle failed to comply and instead drove off the road and was abandoned near the fence line.
Multiple individuals fled from the U-Haul, but four of them were apprehended by the Deputy and presented Mexican identification. The driver, identified as a Cuban national, was tracked down by DPS K9 in the nearby brush.
The vehicle was later released to Garcias Wrecker service, while the four undocumented individuals were handed over to Uvalde Border Patrol.
