Eagle Pass ISD has filed a lawsuit against the Texas Attorney General to petition for relief from compliance with the Letter Ruling the Attorney General issued in connection with the Public Information Request submitted by The Maverick Times back in April. The Texas Attorney General rendered its opinion that records TMT requested should be released. The EPISD contends the records are exempt under Section 552.101 et seq of the Texas Government Code.

The lawsuit filed in Travis County and the case Eagle Pass Independent School District and its Board of Trustees v. Ken Paxton, Attorney General. State of Texas; Cause No.D-1-GN-22-003916 in the 9th Judicial District Court of Travis County.

Interesting how EPISD is more than willing to spend more tax payer money to keep one of their own tax payers from receiving records of an incident that occurred between a teacher and a student. Jenny Purcell was suspended earlier this year for her role in an incident where she allegedly slapped a student. She is the daughter in law of Eagle Pass ISD School Board Member Glenna Purcell.
