ERCOT ISSUES CONSERVATION APPEAL TO TEXANS AND TEXAS BUSINESSES

On Sunday, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) issued a conservation appeal asking the residents of the great state of Texas to voluntarily conserve electricity today, Monday, July 11th 2022 between the hours of 2-8pm. ERCOT also issued a Watch for a projected reserve capacity shortage during the same time, although no system-wide outages are expected according to the press release.

The press release by ERCOT emphasized the voluntary call for conservation is limited only to 2-8pm the busiest time span for electricity. ERCOT projects today during the hours mentioned Texans and central areas of United States will hit a record high in electrical demand and low wind for potential power generation is also a factor.
