GREELEY, Colo. — Authorities in Greeley are searching for a former middle school employee accused of sexually abusing a 13-year-old student over a period of several months.

Police say Brenda Meza, 34, who worked as a secretary at Franklin Middle School, is currently unaccounted for following an initial interview with investigators. According to law enforcement, Meza is facing multiple felony charges, including sexual assault of a child, internet luring of a child, tampering with physical evidence, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Allegations Detailed in Investigation

According to an arrest affidavit, investigators allege that Meza developed an inappropriate relationship with the student that escalated into repeated sexual encounters. Authorities say the interactions began after the student contacted Meza on social media, which led to ongoing communication.

Police allege that Meza later admitted to engaging in sexual acts with the student inside her vehicle on multiple occasions. Investigators also state that the encounters involved the use of alcohol and marijuana, which Meza allegedly provided to the minor.

The affidavit further alleges that evidence recovered from Meza’s phone included communications between the two, as well as images connected to their meetings.

Investigation and Disappearance

The case came to light after an anonymous tip was reported to school officials in early February. According to investigators, Meza was confronted by school administrators and later acknowledged inappropriate conduct to her husband.

Authorities say that after being contacted by law enforcement, Meza instructed the student to delete her contact information. She was subsequently placed on administrative leave and later terminated from her position with the school district.

Despite the ongoing investigation, police have been unable to locate Meza. During a traffic stop involving her husband in March, he reportedly told officers he did not know her whereabouts.

Charges and Ongoing Search

Greeley Police are seeking to formally charge Meza with 12 felony counts related to the case. As of now, she has not been taken into custody.

The Greeley-Evans School District 6 stated it is cooperating fully with law enforcement and emphasized that student safety remains its top priority.

Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding Meza’s location to contact the Greeley Police Department.

All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
