Eagle Pass, TX – The Veterans League 2025 championship matchup is set, and it will be a familiar one for Eagle Pass baseball fans. For the second time in recent seasons, the Tecos will face off against the Auténticos for the league title.

The Tecos punched their ticket to the finals on Sunday with an emphatic 11–4 victory over the Cerveceros, eliminating them from playoff contention in commanding fashion.

Pérez Shines on the Mound

Cerveceros starter Ramiro “El Gato” Solis struggled to contain the Tecos’ offense, while Felipe “La Varilla” Pérez from Morelos, Coahuila, delivered a masterclass on the mound. Pérez kept opposing hitters off balance all game, striking out 10 and going the distance for the win.

The momentum started early when Jorge “El Loki” Morales laid down a perfectly placed bunt along the first-base line, beating the throw and sparking the Tecos’ offensive surge.

Cerveceros Fall Short

The Cerveceros, who just last week stunned the Tecolotes with a walk-off win to stay alive, couldn’t match the Tecos’ intensity. Despite putting up four runs, their offense stalled against Pérez’s sharp pitching and the Tecos’ aggressive defense.

The game’s final out came in dramatic fashion when Pérez froze Juan “El Güero” Mata with a devastating curveball, leaving him standing at the plate as the Tecos celebrated their return to the finals.

Offensive Leaders

The Tecos’ bats came alive with several standout performances:

  • René Rodríguez – 5 for 6
  • José Rendón – 5 for 6
  • Jorge Morales – 4 for 6
  • Héctor Chapa – 4 for 5
  • Efraín Cuevas – 3 for 5

Championship Series Begins Sunday

The opening game of the Veterans League championship series will be played next Sunday in Eagle Pass, where the Tecos and Auténticos will renew their rivalry. Fans can expect a hard-fought series between two of the league’s most competitive teams.
