Commissioner Roberto Ruiz, in partnership with the Maverick County Self-Help Center, successfully hosted a free used tire collection event on Saturday at 2064 Boulder Ridge. This event, which targeted residents of Loma Bonita, Lago Vista, and the surrounding areas, saw hundreds of tires collected, contributing to the county’s ongoing efforts to maintain a clean and environmentally friendly community.

The tire collection initiative aimed to provide residents with a convenient way to dispose of old, unused tires, which are often difficult to get rid of and can become breeding grounds for pests like mosquitoes if left unchecked. By offering a designated drop-off point, Commissioner Ruiz and the Self-Help Center helped to reduce environmental hazards and enhance the overall appearance of local neighborhoods.

Community Engagement and Environmental Impact

Residents showed strong support for the initiative, taking advantage of the opportunity to clear out their properties of tires. The event’s success highlights the community’s commitment to environmental stewardship and the importance of responsible waste disposal practices.

The collected tires will be processed in an environmentally friendly manner, preventing them from becoming pollutants or contributing to local health hazards. This effort is in line with Maverick County’s broader goals of promoting sustainable practices and ensuring a cleaner environment for all its residents.

Commissioner Ruiz’s Efforts to Keep the Community Clean

Commissioner Roberto Ruiz has been actively involved in initiatives that promote environmental consciousness and community well-being in Precinct 4. The tire collection event is one of several efforts by the precinct to foster a healthier, cleaner environment.

“The turnout was incredible, and it’s clear that the community cares deeply about keeping our surroundings clean,” said Commissioner Ruiz. “By properly disposing of these used tires, we’re taking a big step towards a safer and more eco-friendly Maverick County.”
