UPDATE: SUSPECT APPREHENDED FOR ALLEGED MURDER OF FIVE PEOPLE

Francisco Oropeza has been captured and charged with the murder of five individuals in Trails End. Sheriff Capers confirmed Oropeza’s capture after leaving the Montgomery County Jail.

After a 4-day manhunt, involving over 250 law enforcement officers, multiple local, state and federal agencies, as well as volunteers, Oropeza was apprehended Tuesday evening in Cut n’ Shoot by Task Force agents.

Oropeza was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Montgomery County Jail where he was booked. Following his arraignment, he will be returned to the San Jacinto County Jail where he will be held on a $5 million bond.

Sheriff Capers expressed his deep gratitude to all his deputies, investigators, command staff, and ancillary staff, as well as to all the law enforcement officials, agencies, and divisions who aided and supported the manhunt. He also thanked the citizens who provided tips and assistance in the investigation.
