Whistleblower Alleges Chief Justice’s Wife Made $10.3 Million as Legal Recruiter
Jane Sullivan Roberts, the wife of Chief Justice John Roberts of the United States Supreme Court, earned over $10 million as a legal recruiter between 2007 and 2014, according to whistleblower documents obtained by Insider. Roberts’s success as a recruiter has raised questions about whether she benefited from her husband’s status as the country’s most powerful judge.
Kendal B. Price, a former colleague of Roberts at the legal recruiting firm Major, Lindsey & Africa, claims that Roberts’s earnings from law firms who practice before the Court should be subject to public scrutiny. Roberts allegedly earned a share of her clients’ payments to the firm, which has prompted calls for greater transparency around the financial activities of Supreme Court justices and their families. Both Jane Roberts and a Supreme Court spokesperson declined to comment on the matter.
