Judge Sets Million Dollar Bond For Man Accused In Rosita Valley Shooting Death
A $1.6 million bond was set for Gustavo Garcia, 36, accused of murder in the Rosita Valley shooting death of his wife Wendy Garcia near Eagle Pass.
EAGLE PASS, Texas — A Maverick County justice of the peace has set bond at $1.6 million for Gustavo Garcia, the 36-year-old man accused of killing his wife at a Rosita Valley home early Saturday, Oct. 24, according to regional reports.
Garcia faces charges of murder and tampering with evidence, those reports say. He remains in custody at the Maverick County jail, and the high bond is expected to keep him there until his first court hearing.

The victim, Wendy Karina Garcia, 38, was a nurse at Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center and a mother of four. Her death has shaken many in Eagle Pass.
Deputies were called to the Rosita Valley home for a report of an injured person and learned on the way that a firearm was involved. They detained Garcia at the scene and found the woman dead inside, the Maverick County Sheriff’s Office said in its first release. Reports say Garcia himself called 911.
Sheriff Tom Schmerber said his criminal investigations division is leading the case with help from the Texas Rangers. Investigators are waiting on autopsy and forensic results. The firearm was recovered and sent for forensic testing.
No motive has been released. The Maverick Times News will keep following this case.
