Foot Pursuit and Narcotics Seizure Lead to Arrest in Zavala County
ZAVALA COUNTY, Texas — What began as a routine traffic stop early Monday morning quickly escalated into a foot pursuit and narcotics arrest after a passenger attempted to flee from deputies.
According to authorities, Deputy A. Aguilar initiated a traffic stop in the 1700 block of North 7th Avenue after observing a traffic violation. During the stop, deputies conducted a safety sweep of the vehicle, where a passenger was found in possession of a digital scale and a white powdery substance.

The passenger was later identified as Jimmy Balboa Jr., 27 years of age.
Suspect Flees and Is Taken Into Custody
When Deputy Aguilar attempted to detain him, Balboa allegedly pushed the deputy in the chest and fled the scene on foot. Deputies initiated a pursuit, which ended after a short chase and the deployment of a department-issued Taser.
Balboa was taken into custody without further incident.

Narcotics and Evidence Recovered
Following his arrest, a search of Balboa revealed six individual baggies of suspected narcotics concealed in his clothing. The discovery further elevated the charges against him.

Active Warrants Confirmed
