Uvalde firefighters faced a busy afternoon on Tuesday as they responded to two separate fire reports within hours. The first call, received at 12:31 p.m., reported a potential fire in Uvalde Estates, though the caller could not specify whether it was a brush or structure fire. Acting quickly, the Uvalde Fire Department dispatched a brush truck and a pumper to the area on Uvalde Estates Drive.

A column of black smoke helped guide firefighters to 1935 Uvalde Estates Drive, where they discovered a building fully engulfed in flames. The structure, which was not visible from the road, had been burning for some time before fire crews arrived. Firefighters immediately established attack lines and began working to extinguish the blaze.

The building, described as an office area, was vacant at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported. The Uvalde County Sheriff’s Office and EMS were also on the scene to assist. Preliminary investigations suggest that a space heater may have been the cause of the fire. Firefighters worked diligently to ensure the flames were extinguished and the area was safe before departing.

Shortly after clearing the scene, firefighters were called to the 1000 block of Magnolia Street for a report of a possible attic fire in a residential home. Upon arrival, crews thoroughly investigated the scene but found no signs of fire or smoke. The situation was deemed safe, and no further action was needed.

These incidents underscore the vital role of Uvalde’s first responders in protecting the community. Their quick response and coordination with other agencies ensured that no injuries occurred and potential threats were promptly addressed. Investigations into the cause of the fire in Uvalde Estates continue, with officials reminding residents to use caution when operating space heaters and other heating devices as temperatures drop.

The Uvalde Fire Department remains committed to the safety of the community and encourages residents to report fires immediately and ensure their homes are equipped with functioning smoke detectors.
