Woman Arrested in Del Rio for Unauthorized Use of Vehicle After Attempted Concealment at Motel
In the early hours of November 6, 2024, Del Rio Police Department responded to a call regarding the unauthorized use of a vehicle, leading to the arrest of 23-year-old Angelica Lynn Moreno. The caller reported that he had allowed Moreno to use his vehicle for a quick trip to a local store, but she failed to return it as agreed, raising concerns over the vehicle’s whereabouts.
Attempts to retrieve the vehicle peacefully proved futile. The caller explained that he repeatedly contacted Moreno, urging her to return the vehicle. Moreno not only refused to comply but also allegedly threatened to cause damage to the vehicle if pressured further.
Police responded by conducting a thorough search of hotel parking lots in the Del Rio area. Their initial efforts proved unsuccessful until, a few hours later, an officer observed a woman matching Moreno’s description walking from the Ramada Inn toward Motel 6. Moreno was seen entering a room at Motel 6, which prompted officers to intensify their search.
The missing vehicle was soon located in the rear parking lot of the Ramada Inn, confirming suspicions of Moreno’s involvement. Police proceeded to Motel 6 and made contact with a male individual inside the room where Moreno had been seen. Initially, the man claimed to be alone but ultimately allowed officers to enter the room.
Officers discovered Moreno attempting to conceal herself under a sheet inside the room. Upon identifying her, police found she was still in possession of the vehicle’s keys. Moreno was immediately arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, a charge that emphasizes the serious nature of taking or using a vehicle without permission.
Following her arrest, Moreno was transported to the Del Rio Police Department for processing. She was later released into the custody of GEO Correctional Facility, where she awaits further legal proceedings.
The Del Rio Police Department’s quick response and persistent search efforts were instrumental in locating both Moreno and the missing vehicle. This incident highlights the department’s commitment to addressing unauthorized vehicle use and ensuring community safety.
