Eagle Pass Eagles Crush Winn Mavericks 48-0, Extend Unbeaten Streak
In a thrilling display of dominance, the Eagle Pass High School Eagles continued their undefeated streak by overpowering the CC Winn High School Mavericks with a commanding 48-0 victory. The annual rivalry game, which took place at Cozel Foster Veterans Memorial Stadium, saw the Eagles showcasing both their offensive and defensive prowess under the leadership of head coach Roger Olivas.
Offensive Firepower
Quarterback X. Barrera led the charge for the Eagles with an impressive performance, completing 14 of 22 passes for 218 yards and throwing two touchdown passes. Barrera also demonstrated his versatility by contributing on the ground with six carries for 66 yards. The Eagles’ running game was equally formidable, with RB L. Flores carrying the ball 11 times for 72 yards and scoring four touchdowns, setting the tone for the Eagles’ dominant rushing attack.
Other key offensive contributors included WR S. Velasquez, who made five catches for 84 yards and scored one touchdown, and WR E. Banda, who added two catches for 39 yards and a touchdown. Overall, the Eagles amassed 246 rushing yards and 218 passing yards, combining for a total of seven touchdowns.
Defensive Standouts
The Eagles’ defense was equally formidable, shutting down the Mavericks’ offense and keeping them scoreless throughout the game. Defensive standouts included LB Luis Velasquez, DE Anthony Panigua, and Safety Rodrigo Garcia, who were pivotal in maintaining the Eagles’ defensive wall.
