Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton Issues Advisory on Election Integrity and Launches Tipline for Reporting Violations
Paxton Urges Texans to Report Suspected Election Law Violations Ahead of 2024 Elections
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has taken significant steps to safeguard election integrity ahead of the 2024 elections. Paxton issued a legal advisory highlighting key aspects of Texas election law, with a particular focus on the risks posed by noncitizen registrations and other potential violations. The advisory underscores the importance of protecting every legal vote and ensuring that electoral outcomes are not unlawfully manipulated.
Paxton’s guidance comes at a crucial time, as concerns over election security and integrity continue to grow. The advisory details the legal frameworks that govern voter registration, voting procedures, and other election-related activities in Texas. It serves as a valuable resource for citizens and government entities alike, offering clarity on who is eligible to vote and the penalties associated with violations of the Texas Election Code.
In conjunction with the advisory, Paxton also announced the launch of a public email tipline, illegalvoting@oag.texas.gov, where Texans can report suspected violations of election law. This initiative is part of the Attorney General’s broader Election Integrity Initiative, which leverages the law enforcement authority and resources of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) to protect the integrity of every legal vote.
“There is nothing more important than the integrity of our elections,” said Attorney General Paxton. “Any attempt to illegally cancel out legal ballots with fraud, vote harvesting, or other methods will be met with the full force of the law. I invite all Texans to report suspected violations at our new tipline. Your political liberties and your representation in our government depend on secure elections.”
As part of his commitment to election integrity, Paxton has also initiated an undercover operation to investigate allegations that noncitizens are being registered to vote in violation of Texas law. Additionally, the OAG has executed search warrants as part of a two-year investigation into an illegal ballot harvesting scheme.
The actions taken by Attorney General Paxton reflect a proactive approach to preventing election fraud and ensuring that Texas elections remain free and fair. As the 2024 elections approach, the advisory and tipline are expected to play a critical role in maintaining public trust in the electoral process.
