Eagle Pass, TX (June 26, 2024) – The local boxing sensation, Daniela “La Barbie” Reyes, has made her hometown of Eagle Pass immensely proud by securing a victory in her opening bout at the 2024 USA Boxing Junior Olympics & Summer Festival. The fight, which took place earlier today. In a highly competitive environment, showcased Daniela’s skill, determination, and dedication to the sport.

Daniela faced Taylor Whitehall-Jacoby from Louisville, Colorado in Ring 1 for the 6th bout of the 6:00 PM event. The match was intense from the start, with both young athletes demonstrating remarkable prowess and sportsmanship. However, it was Daniela’s sharp techniques and strategic approach that ultimately led her to a well-deserved victory. Reyes was well coached by local legend, Mr. Alfonso Mallen from Eagle Pass, Texas. The hard work and dedication showed in the opening bout.

The fight was scored over three rounds, with Reyes consistently outperforming her opponent. The judges awarded her scores of 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, 9-10, and 10-9 in the first round; 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, 10-9, and 9-10 in the second round; and 10-9, 9-10, 9-10, 9-10, and 9-10 in the third round. The final scores reflected her dominance, with totals of 30-27, 29-28, 29-28, 28-29, and 28-29, leading to her victory.
