CRYSTAL CITY, TX — On April 21, 2024, a routine traffic stop by the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office led to the arrest of an individual and the seizure of a substantial amount of illegal drugs. The incident occurred when deputies pulled over a White Dodge SUV in Crystal City for a traffic violation.
During the stop, the driver, initially providing a false identity, was later identified as Oscar Calva Cruz. Upon verification, it was discovered that Calva Cruz was an undocumented non-citizen residing in the United States illegally. The traffic stop escalated when deputies found 43 grams of methamphetamine in his possession.
