Border Patrol Supervisors in Eagle Pass, Texas cut state wire on private property after the state governor issued a constitutional declaration of invasion. This may have violated Texas Government Code Chapter 557 Sedition & Sabotage.

The Texas Government Code defines sedition as “any act or word that intends to cause the overthrow of the state government or to bring the state government into contempt or disrepute.” Sabotage is defined as “any act or word that intends to damage or destroy any property of the state government.”

The Border Patrol Supervisors have not yet released a statement explaining why they cut the state wire.

If the Border Patrol Supervisors are found to have violated Texas Government Code Chapter 557, they could face up to 20 years in prison.
