San Antonio Driver Arrested for Smuggling Illegal Aliens with Firearm
THE SCOOP:
- San Antonio driver pulled over for traffic violation
- Deputies found passengers to be illegal aliens
- Driver was in possession of a firearm
A San Antonio driver was arrested in Kinney County on Tuesday for allegedly smuggling illegal aliens.
Deputy Molinar pulled over Prince Aaliyah Cheyienne for a traffic violation. During the stop, the deputy determined that all four passengers in the vehicle were illegal aliens, three from Mexico and one from Honduras.
The driver, Cheyienne, was also found to be in possession of a firearm, a 9mm handgun that was wedged between the driver’s seat and the console.
Cheyienne is facing charges of human smuggling and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. She is being held in the Kinney County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
This is the latest in a string of human smuggling arrests in Kinney County. In recent months, the county has become a major crossing point for illegal aliens entering the United States from Mexico.
The arrests have put a strain on law enforcement resources in the county. Kinney County Sheriff Brad Coe has said that his department is “overwhelmed” by the number of human smuggling cases.
The arrests have also led to calls for increased border security. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has deployed state troopers to the border in an effort to stem the flow of illegal immigration.
