Encinal PD Arrests Driver Smuggling Undocumented Subjects
Encinal Police Department (EPD) arrested a driver who was smuggling undocumented subjects on Monday, August 28, 2023.
EPD Corporal was conducting extra patrol on Main Street targeting speeders when he observed a silver Chevy Impala traveling 53 miles per hour in a 45 mile per hour zone. As the Corporal attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle continued onto IH-35 and proceeded northbound.
At around the 63 mile marker, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) successfully deflated all four tires by using a tire deflation device. As a result, the driver was detained along with three undocumented subjects.
The driver was identified as Brandon Joseph Ross, 32, of Houston, TX. The three undocumented subjects were found to be from Mexico and Guatemala.
Without further incident, Ross was placed under arrest for Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Smuggling of Persons and transported to the La Salle County Jail for booking.
EPD would like to thank La Salle County Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Anthony Zertuche, US Border Patrol Laredo Sector, and DPS for their assistance in this case.
