Ron DeSantis’s Presidential Campaign Hit With FEC Violation Letter
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has sent a violation letter to Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign, alleging that the campaign has received “apparent excessive, prohibited and impermissible contributions.”
The letter, which is 49 pages long, details 46 pages of alleged violations. The FEC is giving the DeSantis campaign until September 11, 2023 to respond with documentation and a course correction, or else the campaign could face legal and financial penalties.

FEC violations, if found to be severe enough, are punishable by jail time.
According to the letter, the DeSantis campaign’s first FEC report that was filed in July is not in compliance with the law. The letter was sent and signed by Michael Dobi, the Senior Campaign Finance and Reviewing Analyst at the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

The DeSantis campaign has not yet responded to the FEC’s letter.
