Billionaire investor Ray Dalio has warned that the United States and China are “on the brink of war,” as tensions between the two nations continue to mount.

Dalio, whose net worth is estimated at $19.1 billion according to Forbes, recently shared his insights on China after taking two trips to the country lasting 13 days. In a post on LinkedIn, he highlighted his belief that the two nations are now beyond the ability to communicate.

“My top revelation from my China trip was the United States and China are on the brink of war and are beyond the ability to talk,” he wrote. “They are very close to crossing red lines that, if crossed, will irrevocably push them over the brink into some type of war that damages these two countries and causes damage to the world order in severe and irrevocable ways.”

Dalio went on to explain that he did not necessarily believe that war was inevitable, but he emphasized that both countries were likely to become more aggressive towards each other in the next year and a half.

He also highlighted two other key takeaways from his trip. Firstly, he noted that many countries, including China, believe that the United States is in decline and facing domestic issues. Secondly, he observed that China is more controlling of its citizens than he had previously thought, with many people considering leaving the country while they still can.

Dalio’s comments come at a time of heightened tensions between the US and China. The communist country has been increasingly assertive on the global stage, leading to growing concerns among Western governments. Just last week, it was reported that China had sent a fleet of spy balloons across five continents, further fueling tensions between the two nations.
