According to the City of Eagle Pass City Council Agenda for Tuesday, August 9, 2022, City Manager George Antuna will be evaluated by City Council.
The City Manager has had a questionable tenure with the City of Eagle Pass. The City Manager recently received a raise by the City Council, this came after The Maverick Times revealed a charge over $1,600 on the City Manager City credit card for Major League Baseball Playoff tickets that he purchased for a number of his directors and a member of city council. Two weeks later he reimbursed the city for the cost.
Another blunder occurred with the recent purchase of downtown properties where the formal procurement process for obtaining real estate services was circumvented by the city manager. The contract went to Aranda Real Estate without opening up the possibility for other real estate companies to submit proposals. A direct violation of the city’s procurement policy. Many real estate professionals have expressed their concerns about the city not following policy.
It is not known if the evaluation stems from these issues or if he will be given another raise similar to his last evaluation.
