MAVERICK COUNTY AMPHITHEATRE COULD END UP COSTING MAVERICK COUNTY RESIDENTS $5 MILLION
The infamous Maverick County Amphitheatre was discussed in commissioners court Monday. County Auditor Sonia Valdez-Junfin fielded questions from commissioner court about the progress of the project and how much the project is costing county residents.

HERE IS WHAT WE FOUND OUT FROM THE MEETING
- Original budget for the project: $2.6 Million
- Total cost of four (4) approved change orders: $476,035.81
- Total project cost as of June 1, 2022: $4,051,553.33
- Project over budget: $1,451,125.16
- Contractor three (3) months behind schedule
A representative overseeing the project stated that there will be additional change orders coming to come for safety issues and a few items that had to be added to the project. Commissioner Ruiz asked how the change orders would be paid. The County Auditor seemed annoyed by the question but responded to the commissioner:

Commissioner, we have a deficit reduction, we have a cushion, you understand that right? We are in a good situation where we have money in our deficit reduction in the general fund.
