The Maverick County Commissioner’s Court Regular Meeting is scheduled at an unusual time this Monday, June 13 at 2:30 pm. On this week’s agenda just like the previous three years right before August comes around, David Saucedo proposes Shepherd Government Affairs for an extension or renewal of their contract. No surprise this year, the lone sponsor for the item on the agenda was the Maverick County Judge.

Agenda item number 20, “Discussion and possible action to advertise for Special Services or extend/renew contract with Shepherd Government Affairs for August 1, 2022 to July 31, 2023.

According to previous public information requests, Shepherd Government Affairs has received $96,000 in compensation annually since 2018 just after David Saucedo won re-election by a slim margin over Rudy Bowels. In the summer of 2021, when this item kshowed up on the agenda both Commissioner Pct. 3 Olga Ramos and Commissioner Pct. 4 Roberto Ruiz debated with the majority about their concerns in extending this company to perform “Special Services” but fell short with a vote of 3-2 against the majority of Commissioner Pct. 1 Gerardo “Jerry” Morales, Commissioner Pct. 2 Rosy Cantu and David Saucedo.
